10 Upcoming Movies That Are Causing Huge Controversy

New drama film Magazine Dreams premiered at the Sundance Film Festival back in January to strong reviews, with particular praise for Jonathan Majors' performance as aspiring bodybuilder Killian Maddox, whose own explosive rage threatens to obliterate his career.

Majors was considered an early contender for a Best Actor Oscar nomination coming out of Sundance, yet in late March, Majors was arrested on assault, strangulation, and harassment charges against a woman.

Soon thereafter, a report was published citing other accusations of abuse against Majors, prompting him to be dropped by numerous management companies and planned upcoming projects, while his wider future as villain Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe also remained in doubt.

With Majors' court trial being delayed into September, Magazine Dreams' release, currently pencilled in for December 8, effectively hangs in the balance.

What was at once considered a potential awards contender might now be close to unreleasable if Majors is found guilty, given the subject matter centering around an angry, uncontrollably violent man played by him.

And even if Majors is cleared in this particular case, the additional accusations lingering around him make it extremely unlikely that the film will become the awards player it once seemed likely to.

If Magazine Dreams ends up quietly delayed and dumped straight to streaming sometime next year, it wouldn't shock anyone.
