10 Upcoming Movies That Could Bomb At The Box Office

1. Ford V. Ferrari (Le Mans '66)

Godzilla V Kong
Fox

Another Vs movie, but a very different one to monsters fighting each other.

Titled Le Mans '66 in the UK (for some reason), you might not expect a sports drama to have a big budget in this day and age, but this one is costing Fox a hefty $100 million in production budget.

The talent behind this film is astounding. Starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale, helmed by Logan director James Mangold and written in part by the iconic Jez Butterworth, it's easy to see where all the money may start to add up.

But the days of awards dramas racking up hefty box office receipts are long gone, especially sports dramas. While some Best Picture contenders have seen success, they've mostly been fantastical musicals or fantasy sci-fi pieces, for example Bohemian Rhapsody and The Shape of Water, both of which had much lower production budgets.

$100 million won't be the end for this film either, as the general marketing push as well as the awards push will set them back even further. It's hard to figure out exactly what they were thinking with this price tag, but it may see more money in streaming and VoD if its awards efforts are successful.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
