10 Upcoming Movies That Could Bomb At The Box Office

8. Minecraft

Godzilla V Kong
Mojang

This one does have the potential to be a hit with the kids despite its outdated production; just look at the healthy amount of money the Angry Birds movie made in 2016 about five years too late to capitalise on the game's peak.

But this one isn't expected to hit theatres until May 2022, which seems decades away in today's ever-shifting cinema landscape.

Building a live-action world for such a blocky game premise seems like a strange task to master and will likely be expensive to mesh with the CG environments, as well as a high-cost cast they may seek out (Steve Carell was originally attached to star, so other stars of his calibre won't come cheap).

It's likely they'd make back any losses at the box office in merchandising and game sales, but in terms of being a runaway box office hit, there's a fair bit of doubt.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
