10 Upcoming Movies That Could Bomb At The Box Office
7. Chaos Walking
Adaptations of YA book series have long been a dying genre, both in terms of quality and audience interest. Chaos Walking boasts an impressive cast and wonderful source material in Patrick Ness' trilogy, but this production has not been without major hiccups to further upset its chances of box office success.
Expected to have had an original production budget ranging from $90 million to $115 million, the film underwent extensive reshoots this year after poor test screenings and the studio deeming it "un-releasable".
Even if these reshoots did fix the film, such a harsh public story surrounding its poor quality might have already doomed its prospects.
Having already been pushed from its March 2019 release window, the film does not currently have a new set date and is expected to drop sometime in 2020. Considering the poor history of recent YA movies bombing at the box office which much lower budgets than this one, it's unlikely this will the success the studio wants.
