It's almost too easy to make digs at this film now, but it has to be said.

This film has been a joke since its conception. The game series hasn't been successful in well over a decade, and the initial posters and teasers for the film stirred fear in audiences.

Then that disastrous first trailer hit and people were not happy. Sonic's design became a laughing stock and the studio pushed it from its November 2019 to February 2020 to redesign him.

This is all well and good, but the budget is about to skyrocket. Already expected to have cost $90 million to produce, the lengthy redesign period - as well as all the necessary re-cutting of trailers and new posters, all of which cost money to make - is bound to push that up even more.

It's unlikely that redesigning Sonic will fix all of this film's problems. It looks pretty ridiculous, and whether sheer curiousity of the trainwreck will be enough to drive box office numbers remains to be seen.
