10 Upcoming Movies That Could Massively Overperform At The Box Office

Cats is a hard one to call.

On one hand, it's a live-action adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's incredibly successful musical (which is currently the fourth longest-running Broadway show in history). On the other hand, Hollywood has a pretty chequered past when it comes to adapting stage musicals to screen. Even Webber's own Phantom of the Opera didn't exactly break records when it hit the big screen in 2004.

Having said that, Cats has an advantage in that it sports a much more recognisable cast, featuring the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, James Cordon, Ian McKellen, Jason Derulo, Rebel Wilson and Dame Judi Dench.

An impressive line-up, no doubt, that actually includes an admirable number of accomplished stage actors, which will likely work in its favour as far as theatre buffs go. That said, Cats' biggest asset may be Swift.

Few people on the planet have a fanbase as devoted as her's and, with their queen playing a major role in the movie musical, you can rest assured that the 'Swifties' will be out in full force - a boost that the film will need since it's going up against Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker.

Make no mistake about it, the aim is not to outperform Star Wars (we know that ain't happening), it's simply to prove that this cat has more legs than anyone is giving it credit for. With Taylor Swift at the forefront, the film could end up holding its own and exceeding expectations.
