10 Upcoming Movies That Could Score 100% On Rotten Tomatoes
9. Crimson Peak
Though it's true that Guillermo del Toro's long-awaited giant robot battle movie Pacific Rim proved to be a little disappointing all round, there's still hope that his upcoming gothic horror throwback - Crimson Peak - can reach the heights of Pan's Labyrinth (clearly the best thing the Mexican director has ever done). So Crimson Peak - which stars talented actors such as Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain - is (according to Wikipedia) "set in Cumbria, in a crumbling mansion in a largely rural and mountainous region of northern England in the 19th century, young author Edith Cushing (Wasikowska) discovers that her charming new husband Sir Thomas Sharpe (Hiddleston) is not who he appears to be." If the plot has overtones of Stoker, which also had Wasikowska living in a large house against a beautiful backdrop and finding herself increasingly disturbed by a handsome gentlemen (aren't Matthew Goode and Tom Hiddleston sort of the same person?), the script here was mostly penned by del Toro himself, which ensures a creepy horror movie of the highest order - albeit with a sense of cinema history (and jokes).
