10 Upcoming Movies That Have Cast Completely The Wrong Person

8. Emily Blunt - The Girl On The Train

If you've read The Girl on the Train, Paula Hawkins' bestselling novel turned film and set for release in 2016, you'll know that tis central character, Rachel, couldn't be further away from somebody like Emily Blunt. Whilst Blunt is stunningly beautiful, slender and charismatic, Rachel is described as overweight and unattractive (not to mention she's an alcoholic). Of course, this is a movie and Hollywood aren't going to cast an unattractive person in the lead role of a major movie, but still... a lot of what drives The Girl on the Train comes down to the fact that Rachel is an absolute wreck of a human being with very nearly nothing going for her. She's also super creepy. Even if you make Emily Blunt a bit unattractive, she's still Emily Blunt; you can't hide the fact that she's a gorgeous specimen. Thing is, according to the images released thus far, the filmmakers haven't bothered to make Emily Blunt unattractive at all: she looks fine. A little understated, maybe, but still pretty and dressed in a fashionable way. She hasn't gained weight for the role; she doesn't look ill. For The Girl on the Train to work, though, the character of Rachel absolutely has to work; if audiences can't buy into Blunt as Rachel, it'll be hard for them to buy into the premise. Who, then? Here's a suggestion that was thrown around by a number of fans: Allison Tolman. If you've seen the TV series Fargo, she's the one that plays plucky - and slightly overweight - police officer Molly Solverson. Yes, she's American, but given that the film has been transposed to New York anyway, you might as well pick an American who at least looks the part.
