7. Scarlett Johansson - Ghost In The Shell
Because nothing in sacred, Hollywood is currently in the process of remaking Ghost in the Shell, a Japanese anime masterpiece that does not deserve to be remade in any capacity - especially with Rupert Sanders, director of Snow White and the Huntsman, at the helm. What's worse, the studio has decided to cast Scarlett Johansson in the lead role, apparently failing to realise that Ghost in the Shell is set in Japan and features a Japanese protagonist in the form of Major Motoko Kusanagi. Johansson is an amazing actress, of course, but she's not right for this part - having her involved is a step in the wrong direction. Granted, details are thin at the moment, and for all we know the movie might wind up being transposed to the United States. Still, this isn't a very progressive move on Hollywood's part, especially if the movie does wind up being Japan-set. Not to mention that Ghost in the Shell fans aren't happy; 50,000 of them signed a petition against Johansson's casting. Who, then? Rinko Kikuchi, of course. Kikuchi is one of Japan's best and most beautiful actresses (not to mention she was Oscar-nominated for her role in Babel), and would make a perfect Motoko. She's also known to western audiences for her turn in Pacific Rim, and would be more than capable of finding the strange place that playing a cyborg requires of an actor.
