10 Upcoming Movies That Have Made Terrible Mistakes Already

7. Throwing Away Jigsaw - Saw

It’s not so much Chris Rock’s upcoming Saw movie which has made a terrible mistake as it is the franchise overall.

Indeed, Rock’s take on the horror property seems quite intriguing, with Samuel L. Jackson’s casting only heightening anticipation. A reimagining of the Saw movies sounds like it has bags of potential, and while Rock’s career has as many misses as hits, he seems very committed to doing this project justice.

The problem is that ‘reimaginings’ tend to happen when a franchise has grown a little stale. You could have said that about Saw until very recently... but Jigsaw’s mini reboot seems to have salvaged it and is ready to build momentum.

While not a critical darling (holding just a 39 on Metacritic), Jigsaw grossed over $100 million off just a $10 million budget. It’s set itself up to inject some new life into the Saw universe, but Chris Rock’s movie has nothing to do with it, and will therefore be pulling in a different direction.

Hopefully they can both enjoy the spotlight and propel each other forward, as it would be a shame if one were to derail the other.
