10 Upcoming Movies That Nobody Asked For
9. God's Not Dead: A Light in the Darkness
One of the most unlikely trilogies in recent memory reaches its conclusion this month as God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness hits theaters. Box office numbers have shown that faith-based projects can draw in an audience under the right circumstances, its just a shame that the movies themselves seem to be so tedious.
The problem is that these movies are essentially television-standard productions mounted for the big screen, something very clearly illustrated by the cast members strewn across the series. Most of your 1990s small-screen favorites have appeared at some point including Kevin Sorbo, Dean Cain, Melissa Joan Hart and even Married... With Children's Ted McGinley. Hell, even Ernie Hudson turned up.
While the first movie earned a solid $64.7m at the box office against a budget of just $2m, the reviews weren't kind and it sits at just 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. The sequel was two and a half times more expensive, made $40m less and took a critical battering, scoring just 9% on RT. Based on those facts alone, its hard to see just who the not-very-anticipated trilogy closer is being made for.
