10 Upcoming Movies That Sound Cool (But Will Probably Suck)

1. ID 4ever

ID4 Independence Day is regarded as a classic of blockbuster filmmaking. That may be a little too far, but it€™s a fun film and the sort of thing you€™ll pick up watching when it€™s on TV. A massive hit when it was first released, people were excited to discover they€™d be a sequel. And got even more excited when they discovered they€™d be two sequels! On the face of it this seems pretty awesome. Why it will be rubbish: One, it€™s needless. No one asked for a second and third and the plot of the original doesn€™t require one. Two, Will Smith isn€™t in it. Just the other day I was ripping Smith to shreds, but there€™s no denying he€™s necessary in an Independence Day movie. Three, Jeff Goldblum is. Anyone remember the other sequel to a nineties favourite where Goldblum was the only major actor to reprise his role? What are the odds this one will have his daughter using gymnastics to knock an alien out a window too. Four, Roland Emmerich can€™t make a good movie. Every film he€™s ever made has been a mess of explosive spectacle, with Independence Day being the best of a bad bunch. He makes good trailers that bring people in, but not films that keep them. Five, it€™s been in development hell for ages. And that never works out OK. Six, it€™s in two parts. We€™ve already had two entries (three if you count the sequel obsessed Spider-Man) that could easily be ruined by a two parter story, but this one has no source so the first part will likely be even more of an aimless advert for the second than it would be otherwise. Seven, after the casting of Goldblum and Bill Pullman, the next character announcement was that one of the characters will be gay. Emmerich is a gay rights activist, so surely he could see using this as a marketing point is highlight differences, not negating them? It€™s like a prime advertising for the original film being that Will Smith is black. Eight, most films on this list have one or two objections at. This has seven. ID Forever sounds initially like a good idea but it will be terrible. Trust me. Are you still looking forward to any of the films on this list? Or are there even more you think will disappoint us?
