The Elevator Pitch: After miraculously surviving a terminal illness, a woman must fight her clone in a court-mandated duel to the death.

Doctor Who breakout star Karen Gillan has a habit of choosing interesting projects, from Oculus to Gunpowder Milkshake. Her upcoming movie Dual continues that trend, a high-concept sci-fi thriller set in a futuristic society where human cloning is not only possible, but common.

Gillan's character is Sara, a terminally-ill woman who decides to clone herself to spare her family the pain of her passing. But then, in a Shyamalan-worthy plot twist, she miraculously beats her illness, leaving her in a bit of a pickle.

You see, in this world, any human who creates a clone will "expire" after a certain amount of time, leaving Sara with only one solution: fight her clone to the death!

Expect lots of badass Gillan-on-Gillan action scenes, and with its creative concept and strong supporting cast - including Aaron Paul and Jesse Eisenberg - Dual has the potential to be one of those small movies that takes the world by storm.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
