10 Upcoming Movies That Will Either Be AWESOME Or TERRIBLE

No in-betweens - these movies will either rule or suck.

Some movies are great, some movies are awful, and some movies end up falling somewhere in between.

But sometimes you just know that an upcoming film is going to skew towards one extreme or the other - either a masterpiece or a dud with no chance of it being merely "mid," as the kids say these days.

And that's absolutely true of these 10 upcoming films, each of which seems primed to hit one way or another with no possibility of a middle ground.

Perhaps they're a wild swing of a sequel that fans aren't sure they even want, or a long-awaited follow-up that's perhaps spent a little too long cooking.

Elsewhere they might simply be a totally bonkers idea for a movie that's going to live or die on the strength of its execution.

Don't expect middle-of-the-road mediocrity from any of these films - they're going to hit a home run or flame out in basically legendary fashion.

There's a fine line between genius and insanity, and these movies all seem on track to prove that, each of them positioned on a razor's edge of quality that truly could tip either way...

10. Gladiator II

Eyebrows were understandably raised when a sequel to Gladiator was first announced.

After all, the Best Picture-winning 2000 original didn't exactly leave much runway for a follow-up, and coming almost an entire quarter-century after the fact, it was easy to immediately scoff at Gladiator II as yet another IP-driven cash-in.

But it wasn't quite so easy to dismiss the involvement of returning director Ridley Scott, nor the stupendously stacked cast including Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, a returning Connie Nielsen, and many more.

The jury's basically still out after the first trailer, which certainly sold the lavish, mega-budget spectacle of the affair, though paid little attention to plot or character.

Given that Scott is a filmmaker whose quality is all over the map and almost always determined by the robustness of the scripts he's working from, this one will go either way.

It could be an Oscar-winning mega-hit worthy of the original, or an absolute clunker that evaporates from the collective consciousness within a few months of its release.
