10 Upcoming Movies That Will Either Be AWESOME Or TERRIBLE

At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios made the Internet-breaking announcement that the fifth Avengers film was now called Avengers: Doomsday, and would revolve around legendary supervillain Doctor Doom, as played by none other than Robert Downey Jr.

Naturally this invited a ton of speculation about whether the MCU's Doctor Doom would be an evil Tony Stark variant, yet for as excited as many comic book fans were, there were just as many who saw the movie as a sign of Marvel Studios' desperation to get out of their creative rut.

Bringing Downey back in a new role feels like a moonshot attempt to restore fading mainstream interest in the MCU, but as ever, it all comes down to the execution.

It's easy to picture this being either one of the smartest things the MCU has done post-Endgame or one of the most cynically ill-conceived. 

With Infinity War and Endgame co-writer Stephen McFeely penning the script, there's good reason to be hopeful about Doomsday, but at the same time, you'd be daft not to temper your excitement with some healthy skepticism.
