10 Upcoming Movies That Will Either Be AWESOME Or TERRIBLE

3. Apartment 7A

Apartment 7A is a prequel to Rosemary's Baby, and while just about nobody was asking for that, the pedigree involved with the project certainly makes it more difficult to dismiss out of hand.

Firstly, the film is being directed by Natalie Erika James, who made some serious waves with her fantastic 2020 horror film Relic, and the cast is led by the brilliant Julia Garner and Dianne Wiest. What's not to like?

Well, there are some caveats worth considering. First and foremost, Apartment 7A finished shooting well over two years ago and underwent extensive reshoots in the spring of 2023.

Then there's the fact that Paramount is foregoing a theatrical release in favour of releasing it on their Paramount+ platform.

Given the mostly low quality of Paramount's direct-to-streaming horror releases, it perhaps suggests this film simply didn't come together as intended during production.

Or if you want to be a little more optimistic, James might've simply cooked up something so wild that it has no mainstream appeal whatsoever, and so it would've just been sent into cinemas to die anyway.
