Trying to follow a feature as well received and impactful as Netflix's Marriage Story was always going to be a tall order for Noah Baumbach.
But far from simply playing safe and heading down a similar straight family drama route for his first picture since pulling in Awards Season acclaim back in 2019/2020, the director has opted to go big and particularly bizarre for the upcoming White Noise.
The project sees Baumbach linking back up with Adam Driver as the Hitler studies professor/father of his Gladney family - yes, you read that correctly - with the flick depicting Jack and the rest of the clan, comprised of everyone from the director's partner Greta Gerwig to The Killing of a Sacred Deer's Raffey Cassidy, all trying to survive an "Airborne Toxic Event".
Equal parts dry hilarity and larger than life spectacle, the director's take on the titular 1985 novel promises to be one of the most memorable entries of 2022. And when a flick is described as "at once hilarious and horrifying, lyrical and absurd, ordinary and apocalyptic," you know something special could be about to drop out of the sky...
