10 Upcoming Movies You Didn't Know Were Based On Books

5. Z For Zachariah

Z For Zachariah clings to an inherently interesting premise. If there were just two men left on the entire planet, which one would Margot Robbie sleep with? Imagining being the guy she denied in such a scenario, relegated to walking the Earth - alone - knowing what the other guy was in store for. Fortunately, it's Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor who will have to battle it out for The Wolf Of Wall Street star's affection in the upcoming movie, which is based on the seminal novel by Robert C. O'Brien, first published in 1973. Z For Zachariah looks as though it's going to be post-apocalyptic fiction of the heavy-handed kind, then (Robbie's character is called "Ann Burden"), as the survival of the human race falls on one of the most beautiful people on the planet. Seriously: one woman survives the end of the world, and she looks like Margot Robbie? What were the odds of that happening? Anyway, the plot of the movie seems to defer from that of the novel in quite a big way. To discuss it any further would ruin both versions of the story, though, so it's probably best to just leave it there.
