Hollywood has been trying to make a Hulk Hogan biopic happen for years at this point, with Chris Hemsworth signing on to play the WWE superstar back in 2019, when Joker filmmaker Todd Phillips was tapped to direct.

But Phillips recently confirmed that the project was dead, just after it was announced that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are developing Killing Gawker, a dramatisation of Hogan's lawsuit against Gawker Media for posting portions of a sex tape featuring him online.

Affleck and Damon will produce the film under their Artists Equity label, with Affleck reportedly planning to portray Hogan. And if this isn't already odd enough, the duo are said to be courting Good Will Hunting filmmaker Gus Van Sant to direct.

With Oscar winner Charles Randolph (The Big Short) penning the script, Affleck and Damon are clearly planning to give Hogan's lawsuit the prestige treatment.

A ridiculous statement if there ever was one, and yet, Affleck did make a surprisingly entertaining film about the genesis of a shoe, so he just might pull it off.

All the same, Affleck as Hogan? It's tough to picture.
