10 Upcoming Movies You Won't Believe Are Real
8. Barbenheimer
"Barbenheimer" was arguably the word of 2023, given that the double bill of Greta Gerwig's Barbie and Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer last summer was arguably the pop-culture event of the entire year.
As inexplicable as it seems, Hollywood is planning to cash-in on the phenomenon - or to be more precise, B-movie producer Charles Band, best known for his Full Moon Productions label, which has released cult horror films such as Puppet Master, Trancers, and Subspecies.
Last November, Band confirmed that he was developing a Barbenheimer film, revolving around scientist Dr. Bambi J Barbenheimer, who lives in Dolltopia and, after discovering how horribly humans treat dolls in the real world, plots to build a nuclear bomb and wipe them out.
Band has no allusions about his film being anything but an attempt to profit off the phenomenon, being produced as it is for less than $1 million.
But given that there's still no sign of Barbenheimer's imminent release more than a year after Barbie and Oppenheimer themselves came out, it's tough not to feel like Band is stuck chasing yesterday's trend.
