8. The New Mutants
The film that it feels like is just never going to get released, The New Mutants and its fans have been put through the ringer more times than anyone really cares to count at this point. A leftover, if you will, from the Fox X-Men film franchise, it's been in post-production hell for quite a long time (mainly due to the Disney/Fox merger) and even though a planned trilogy may or may not go ahead, it will still get its theatrical release this year... maybe.
Jokes aside, the film has the potential to be great. Sure, nobody wants to give the franchise credit because of the last few installments of the X-Men film series (Logan and Deadpool aside of course), but judging by its trailers, we could be in for a very intriguing film centred on young mutants attempting to outrun the dark facility that means to do them harm. Adding to that intrigue is the fact that test screenings reportedly saw fans respond positively to the horror superhero movie.
A potentially thrilling sci-fi horror, there's a lot of intrigue surrounding the film. And when you take into account all of the reshuffling that it's had to go through, it really does deserve to see the light of day. The question is: Will its now-planned August release date hold up, or is there more rescheduling ahead for The New Mutants?
