10 Upcoming Sci-Fi Movies To Be Excited About

Few directors invest as much time, energy and money into sequels as James Cameron. The man who brought us the groundbreaking Terminator 2: Judgment Day is looking to do it all again with the second installment in his Avatar film series.

Speaking of groundbreaking, Cameron outdid himself with Avatar back in 2009. A special effects masterpiece, it left audiences in complete awe. In fact, this writer doesn't mind telling you that it was the only time he's seen an audience clap for a movie when the credits rolled (no, it doesn't happen that often over here, okay?!). The question is, can the former highest-grossing film of all time spawn a sequel capable of capturing the same title in a world where Star Wars and Jurassic Park have returned, female superheroes are reaching new heights and, oh yeah, The Avengers exist?

Regardless of the answer to that question, Avatar 2 will undoubtedly be a cinematic spectacle that will make full-use of modern technology, graphics and special effects in ways that only Cameron himself is capable of. If you've seen his movies, you'll know that they're quite the visual masterpieces and, for that reason alone, Avatar 2 needs to be seen on the biggest screen imaginable.
