10 Uplifting Movies To Ease The January Blues

6. Kiki's Delivery Service

Just as you can take your pick from the Pixar back catalogue and be sure to be in a good mood once the credits have rolled, so too can you be sure to come out the other end of a Studio Ghibli production feeling happier than when you went in. While most Ghibli movies are ultimately feel-good, Kiki's Delivery Service has a particularly sweet and innocent charm that is guaranteed to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy after returning from the cold, dark January office. Kiki is a young witch in training who sets out on her 13th birthday into the big wide world. Using her flying ability, she sets up a delivery service in an idyllic coastal town and gets to know the various locals along the way. Low key and lacking in huge melodramatic plot twists, this is a laid back yet visually sumptuous adventure full of the kind of charm and detail you'd expect from a Hayao Miyazaki animation - perfect for easing the January blues.
