10 Utterly Absurd Comic Book Villains (That Could Be Great On Film)

8. Giganta

8 Giganta 2 Cropped It sounds like the start of a joke, but Giganta has an extremely convoluted origin involving a scientist, an artificially evolved gorilla and a circus strongwoman with size changing abilities. All you really need to know about her is that she is a 50 foot woman. She has traditionally been a Wonder Woman villain but she is also well known as a member of the Injustice League and in particular the Legion of Doom from Super Friends. It was in Super Friends that she first gained her size changing abilities in order to be a rival to both Wonder Woman and to Apache Chief. How could she possibly work in film? Attack of the 50 foot woman is a classic B-movie from 1958, and since then Attack of the 50 foot something has become a common film trope. A 50 foot woman can and does work in film when not treated too seriously. Giganta could be used to great effect as an element of comic relief in a Wonder Woman film. She could be a giant Amazonian that Wonder Woman fights as part of her trials on Themyscira, the home of the Amazonians. She could also work as a minor villain in the Justice League Dark film. The Justice League Dark film is currently in development and will undoubtedly have a less serious tone than the inevitable Justice League film.
