2. Bob Hoskins - Brazil
Brazil is quintessential Terry Gilliam territory, an Orwellian concoction blended with a twist of Monty Python-esque slapstick. Starring Jonathan Pryce and Robert De Niro, Brazil focuses on a dystopian future government full of bureaucratic mistakes, intent on fixing its errors and wiping out a suspected enemy of the state in De Niro. Hoskins memorably surfaces as a government Central Service worker named Spoor, alongside his dopey sidekick Dowser. The two are sent to investigate a broken air conditioner in Pryces apartment. If his creepy grin and pushy demeanour didnt alert you to his lunacy, his lamping of Dowser over the head with a wrench moments later certainly gives it away.
