10 Vampire Movies That Put Twilight To Shame

1. Let the Right One In

The vampire genre gets turned on its head by what is surely its best ever instance. 2008's Swedish cult classic Let the Right One In tells the tale of a young girl, Eli, who arrives in town and befriends a young boy, Oskar, who is being bullied at school. The twist? The girl is a vampire, and spends most of her nights out with her carer hunting lone humans, imbuing the vampire film with a starkly different and very twisted sense of pained morality. Is what she does right? Of course not, but she has to feed to live. What really makes the film work isn't its vampire-based flourishes, but the love story at the center; the relationship between Eli and Oskar, burgeoning from friendship to something more, endures a few cruel twists along the way, as well as an unforgettable climax that'll certainly have audiences squirming in their seats. So good was the film that even when the Americans decided to remake it, they couldn't help but actually make a pretty good film too. What's your favourite vampire film?
