10 Vampire Movies That Put Twilight To Shame

7. Cronos

Guillermo del Toro's 1993 vampire classic does well to cast aside the more cliched aspects of the vampire film, instead having protagonist Jesus, an old antique dealer, become infected by means of an injection rather than a bite. He ends up rejuvenated at first, with a youthful taste for sex of all things, and consequently, a taste for blood as well, which proves the crux of Jesus' moral dilemma throughout the film. A postmodern stab at the vampire flick, Cronos is a more serious take than the aforementioned three films, though still ensures to have a lot of fun deviating from the tropes of the genre. With its plot delving centuries into the past, del Toro manages to combine the more rustic elements of vampire lore with his own brilliantly demented narrative. A vastly under-valued work of the director's canon, and well worth your time.
