6. Satan's Dog (1981/1986)

Masters Of The Universe
Video Vision

“She screamed for the devil… AND HE SENT HER SATAN’S DOG” - which, it turns out, is actually a lovely looking Rottweiler.

Watching this, you are guaranteed a good few laughs, though it's doubtful that was the director’s aim. Satan's Dog isn't entirely bad either. Yes, it is low budget, all filmed around Dallas suburbs, and it does look silly, but the villainous older woman (played by Yvonne “Lily Munster” De Carlo) is very entertaining and, yeah, the deaths are kinda neat.

However, some good laughs, an entertaining older lady, and deaths that are kinda neat, is not what you expect when you pick up the box. The monster on Satan's Dog's front brings to mind the thing that crawls out of the girl's back in ‘Demons’, but the monster/dog demon thing isn’t even in the movie.

Instead, the dog at the core of this picture is literally just a Rottweiler named Greta. Satan isn’t in it, either. It’s your basic “evil, greedy person wants family fortune for their self so sends satanic, yet remarkably well trained and obedient, dog to kill relatives in creative and unlikely ways” sort of affair.
