And finally, it's the king of the video game movie. Sure, it's only got a PG-13 rating (which in retrospect seems ridiculous) and is neither the most financially successful or critically acclaimed game adaptation, but in terms of capturing the tone and essence of a game, no movie has done it better.

The sets, the costumes, the music and the fight scenes: they all feel extremely true to the games, and crucially, the film embraces the camp of the source material rather than cast it away in favour of something grittier (as is so common nowadays).

Sure, the performances are a mixed bag and the plot is pure nonsense, but the games aren't exactly prided on either, so it's fine.

Why It's Better Than Warcraft: It balances itself near-perfectly in terms of adapting the game in an entertaining way for broader audiences while not p***ing off the fanbase.
