10 Video Game Movies Better Than Warcraft
2. Silent Hill
A fantastic effort...albeit one that didn't quite stick the landing. Silent Hill's first half is a near-masterpiece as far as video game adaptations go: it captures the mood and visual tone of the original game perfectly, and is extremely compelling whether you're a gamer or not.
Sadly it begins to fall apart in the third act when the convoluted and borderline-nonsensical plot unravels, leading to a lazy film reel exposition dump at the very end.
Still, it's an absolutely gorgeous film, and to date there hasn't been a stronger success in terms of replicating a game's iconic style.
Why It's Better Than Warcraft: It's immediately compelling from its first scene and holds the viewer in its grip for at least an hour...which is more than can be said for Warcraft, which limps along before unveiling some half-decent action in its third act.
