10 Video Game Movies That Made ONE Huge Mistake
9. Not Enough Animus - Assassin's Creed
On paper, Assassin's Creed should've been one hell of a movie, given that it both starred Michael Fassbender and was directed by the great Justin Kurzel (Snowtown, Macbeth).
But the film made one major mistake - it's mostly set in the present day rather than the Animus, the machine which allows its users to relive their genetic memories.
Given that the present day nonsense is by far the most divisive aspect of the games, it was certainly... a choice to set most of the movie there, with only about one-third of it actually taking place in the Animus.
The present day setup really just needed to be window dressing for the historical action-adventure fare everyone wanted out of an Assassin's Creed movie.
Instead, the filmmakers got the balance basically totally backwards, ensuring that vast swaths of it are a dull, forgettable slog.
What a waste of so much talent both in front of and behind the camera.
