1. Super Mario Bros. Guillermo del Toro
Video Game: A game that needs no introduction, as most people and their mother know who the famous plumbers of the Mushroom Kingdom are. Mario and Luigi jump from pipe to pipe, smashing blocks while riding fan-favourite Yoshi as he gulps evil turtles, all in the hope of once again saving Princess Peach from the notorious Bowser. A movie for this franchise has been attempted before, but it was rather underwhelming. Does the best-selling video game franchise deserve a second and more serious chance? I like to hope so.
Director: What makes the Mario Brothers so famous, besides the addictive game play, may be the distinct levels and creatures that make up the world of the countless Mario video games. And if someone were to consider directors who have a knack for expert storytelling and beautiful visuals of both creatures and scenery alike, that would be Guillermo del Toro. GDT would certainly be an interesting choice for Mario. As the man who brought Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth to life with award winning talent, a combination of Toro and Mario would be potentially excellent. So, any alternatives you may suggest?
