10 Villains Who Need To Appear In The MCU
5. Norman Osborn/Green Goblin
Although it certainly has its flaws, Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man movie still holds up as an important and particularly idiosyncratic comic book adaptation. The most memorable thing about the film is undoubtedly Willem Dafoe’s depiction of Norman Osborn, a twisted scientist whose ambitions lead to the deterioration of his mental state.
Now that Marvel Studios can pick and choose villains from the Spider-Man franchise, Osborn would make for a great addition to any future Spidey flick or team-up crossover. He wouldn’t even need to appear as his alter ego, Green Goblin, either. We’ve already seen one cinematic adaptation of the Goblin, but the Oscorp CEO is much more than pumpkin bombs and goofy masks – he’s an incredibly wealthy, driven and controlling individual, and has even headed up his own ‘Dark’ version of The Avengers.
Perhaps this could be Osborn’s way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe; The Avengers have been disassembled following the events of Civil War/Infinity War, so Osborn uses his relationship with Peter Parker to acquire knowledge and influence from the new government sanctioned Avengers, with his end goal being the infiltration and subversion of the group.
