Often, the most dangerous adversaries are those that pose an intellectual threat, rather than a physical one, to their arch-nemesis; and Brainiac is a being whose entire existence is based on being the greatest mind in the entire universe.

Brainiac, as he has become known, is a being obsessed with obtaining the unlimited knowledge of all things in the universe. Travelling throughout the galaxy in his quest for mental superiority over all others, Brainiac is merciless in his quest, willing to obtain information by any means necessary. Dubbed 'The Collector of Worlds', Brainiac has travelled to countless planets, shrinking their greatest cities down to bottle size in order to observe and learn about each planet.

Fans have begged film-makers for years to finally have Superman face off against Brainiac on big screen, and with the introduction of the DC Extended Universe, we may now get that wish. While Brainiac's inclusion would allow Superman to face off against hordes of drones in an attempt to protect the earth, it would also allow for Superman to be conveyed in a much more intelligent light, with the Man of Steel being forced to use his intellect to battle his adversary, as well as his physical strength.  Man of Steel director Zack Snyder has stated his desire to bring Brainiac into the DC Extended Universe, but how long will be before the Collector of Worlds rears his green head?
