In the universe's most desperate times of need, the Justice League come together to fight off whatever evil they face. In the case of Nekron and The Black Lanterns however, it would take more than the Justice League to stop this army of zombies, dead-set on engulfing the entirety of existence in darkness.

Ruler of the Land of The Unliving, a purgatory where all must go to await their judgement after death, Nekron is a being of pure evil, who desires nothing more than the eradication of all life. During the 'Blackest Night' event, Nekron used the power of the Black Power Battery, and was able to create the Black Lanterns, an army of undead heroes and villains, all under his control.

The inclusion of The Black Lanterns in the DC Extended Universe would unquestionably be a huge venture, with so many heroes and villains playing huge roles in the 'Blackest Night' event. However, if DC take the time to build plenty of characters in their cinematic universe, before unleashing Nekron and The Black Lanterns on the big screen, a film based on the 'Blackest Night' event could be one that would span the length and breadth of the DC Extended Universe, and allow for some of the Universe's biggest on-screen battles.
