10 Vintage Film Special Effects That Make A Mockery Of CGI

9. Robocop vs. ED 209 Scene - Robocop (1987)

When we first saw this movie as a kid, we all thought stop motion was the coolest thing ever. While the original Robocop may not be the greatest film to highlight the greatness of €˜80s special effects, we will do so on the heels of the horrendously lame remake that €œgraced€ our theaters just a few short months ago. There isn€™t much more to be said about this excellent film that hasn't already been said so let€™s just stick to one scene in particular. When Robocop confronts the vice-president of OCP (the company that created him), he is then confronted by his counterpart in the form of a cyborg twice his size named ED-209. The battle only lasts a few minutes with ED-209 basically obliterating Robocop until he finds ED€™s weakness€stairs. Now, compare this scene with the 2014 reboot where Robocop takes on two ED-209€™s in a flurry of shoddy CGI where you can€™t tell what the hell is going. We certainly wouldn€™t buy that for a dollar.
