10 Ways Aquaman Is Better Than Black Panther
4. Better-Utilized Villains
Kilmonger serves as the central highlight of Black Panther for many viewers. He had a believable motivation, solid set-up, and was a standout when onscreen. However, the same can not be said for Ulysses Klaue. While Kilmonger's character felt thought-out, Klaue felt like someone the writers had no real plan for. He has too much screen time and doesn't do anything with it. He's so goofy and says a lot without saying anything at all. Once he's taken out of the picture, you realize just how little time is left for Kilmonger.
Orm isn't too different from Kilmonger in the sense of his desire for power, but he's at least given the opportunity to be present throughout the film. It doesn't take more than an hour for the protagonist and antagonist to meet, unlike BP. His plans, motivation, and feelings towards Arthur are established immediately and efficiently.
Even Black Manta earns better treatment here than both of BP's villains. His role is minimal, but the movie makes it clear that Orm is the main threat for now. His anger towards Arthur is explained, he has some standout action scenes, and it's clear you haven't seen the last of him, without taking any focus away from Mr. Ocean Master.
