10 Ways Avengers: Secret Wars Could Change The MCU Forever
Things will quite literally never be the same again.
The Infinity Saga has been over really ever since Avengers: Endgame, though technically the curtain closer was Spider-Man: Far From Home. Ever since then, though it wasn’t confirmed until San Diego Comic Con 2022, everything has been a part of the Multiverse Saga.
Already, this has changed everything about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is new blood coming through while the old guard are taking something of a backseat, there are new themes, stories, and breadcrumbs being dropped, and it will all culminate in Avengers: Secret Wars in 2025.
It will likely be debated until and even after the release of the sixth Avengers movie whether or not four years is enough for an entire MCU saga to be brought to the screen, but even now there can be no doubt that the final chapter in the Multiverse Saga will be a gamechanger.
The MCU take on the 2015 mega-event of the same name will make sure that nothing in the franchise will be quite the same after it, and will set Phase Seven and beyond up to be completely different in a number of different ways.
10. The Multiverse Will Be Destroyed
After the Infinity Saga chapter of the MCU closed, everyone knew another one was about to begin. Even before Kevin Feige officially announced that Phases four, five, and six would make up the Multiverse Saga, Loki, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness almost made the reveal for him.
Over the next three years MCU fans can look forward to all manner of multiversal hijinks, including Kang the Conqueror and his Variants and Secret Wars itself, but if the MCU is done with Multiverse Saga going into Phase Seven, then it would make sense if the multiverse was left behind altogether.
In the 2015 comic event, the only two surviving universes in the entire multiverse when the fateful incursion is about to happen are Earth-616 and Earth-1610. This could mean that the main MCU continuity, and whichever alternate universe the franchise decides to go with could be the only ones left in the whole multiverse.
While this could happen towards the beginning of Secret Wars, it seems likely that Doctor Strange 3 could be releasing as a part of Phase Six first. Strange himself was seen heading into the Dark Dimension with Clea in the post-credit scene, but that doesn’t mean his solo franchise is done meddling in the multiverse, and it could see the collapse of the entire thing, allowing Secret Wars to jump straight into Battleworld.
