10 Ways Back To The Future Would Look Completely Different In 2015

Disney rejected Back To The Future because "a mother falling in love with her son was not appropriate for a family film under the Disney banner", according to co-writer Bob Gale. But they were fine with the gunning-down of an elderly genius in front of his dog? Yes, because Libyans pulled the trigger and also [SPOILER] he wasn't really dead.

In 1981 Libya were the bad guys. Hollywood cowboy Ronald Reagan was running the United States of America and Colonel Gaddafi was on their hit list. Gaddafi openly supported violent organisations in places like Syria and clearly dressed himself in the dark.

The CIA felt Libya were on the verge of nuclear weaponisation which made them a viable threat and gave Back To The Future a topical edge that spoke to the politically-engaged 80s American youth.

It's 2015 and Libya is still causing trouble but they won't be smuggling rocket launchers into a car park any time soon. In a reboot these campervan-driving monsters could easily be switched for any of today's political protagonists like North Koreans or those crazy Russians.
