You had your Thor, Iron Man, and Hulk figures, but there was no Natasha Romanoff? Look high and low and you will struggle to find her anywhere, and instead Black Widow was promoting Doritos.

In the same story of Iron Man 3's villain change, Shane Black was informed by the powers above that female figures just don't sell like their male counterparts. Even Hulk himself, Mark Ruffalo has called for more women action figures for the aspiring female assassins out there:

You may be able get yourselves a Doctor Strange Funko POP that is of The Ancient One, but apart from some flicked eyelashes, it is pretty gender neutral. However, there is one place you will always be able to find our female characters though - plastered on GM foods and things that make your kid go "buy me this." Yoghurt, granola, the aforementioned Doritos are covered with plenty of Romanoffs so that you part with your cash to appease the kids.

For the time being it looks like studios think our female viewers should stick to Barbie or officianlly licesned apple sticks.
