It is hard to believe that in this day and age sexism could still be so rife, but if you work at Marvel, it seems worse than ever.

As part of the 2015 Sony email leak, hackers uncovered one email from Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter where he cast into question the profitability of female-lead films. He pointed out three female films which had failed, and incorrectly spelt Elektra as "Electra."

Michael, As we discussed on the phone, below are just a few examples. There are more. Thanks, Ike

It hardly stirs confidence in the genre when even those at the top don't have faith in the fairer sex. Thankfully Feige and co. now report to Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn, and the announcement of Captain Marvel and Ant-Man and the Wasp seem to be steering it in the right direction.

Nevertheless the email leak of 2015 did the damage it was supposed to, calling out Marvel as a male driven company.
