10 Ways To Get Stupidly Rich (That We Learnt From Movies)

6. Get A Job In The Mail Room And Pretend To Be A Corporate Exec - The Secret Of My Success

Studying hard is no guarantee of success in the job market - despite slaving over textbooks for several years and achieving respectable grades, many graduates nevertheless still find themselves hanging on to the lower rungs of the employment ladder or, worse still, floundering around in unemployment. If you want to succeed, sometimes you need to think outside the box. This is precisely what Brantley Foster (Michael J. Fox) realises in The Secret of My Success, the 1987 comedy hit in which he starts out on the bottom of the corporate ladder in the company mail room and ends up right at the top sitting comfortably in the boardroom securing multi-million dollar deals. And how does he achieve this? It's simple - all you have to do is loiter around waiting for a mid-level executive to get fired then quickly move into their office, fake some records and prove yourself to the higher ups. It no doubt helps if your uncle works there, and his wife is the daughter of the owner of the corporation who just happens to have a sweet spot for you - a little bit of nepotism can go a long way, particularly for the over-ambitious.
