When Ryan Reynolds was cast as Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, comic book movie fans rejoiced at the fact that the perfect actor had been cast as the inimitable Merc with a Mouth. Reynolds is charismatic, funny, light-hearted and full of personality - just like Wilson's alter-ego Deadpool - and the actor/character combination seemed ideal. But, when the movie actually came out, fans realised they'd been had. The Merc with a Mouth had been deprived of said mouth, as he was bizarrely transformed halfway through the movie in to a twisted version of the comic book hero who not only had a mish-mash of powers that the comic book version never had, but also had his mouth sewn shut! It was a crazy decision on Marvel and Fox's part and it really screwed fans over.
