10 Ways Marvel Movies Misled You

6. Galactus - Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer

After a disappointing first Fantastic Four movie, interest was piqued somewhat when the sequel's title - Rise of the Silver Surfer - was announced. The shiny hero's origins in the comic books are that of a slave to Galactus - or a "Herald", to be more specific - a gigantic humanoid who relies on consuming planets to survive. Knowing the Surfer was coming to the big screen led everyone to believe they'd be seeing Galactus joining him - a version of Galactus faithful to the comic books, more to the point - and nobody could have expected the terrible cloud version that was actually presented on screen. Screenwriter Don Payne even said that the film was going to be based upon "The Galactus Trilogy" - three of the planet devourer's most famous comic book stories - in which he most certainly is not a giant cloud. Imagine the disappointment when, after much expectation, that cloud happened.
