10 Ways MCU Movies Nearly Turned Out Completely Different
9. Patty Jenkins As Director - Thor: The Dark World
Right now, Patty Jenkins is a director with the world at her feet. Not only did she take the superhero world by storm with Wonder Woman in 2017 and 2020, with the trilogy set to finish in the next few years, she is also getting in on the ground floor of the new wave of Star Wars movies after being given the director's chair for Rogue Squadron.
Before all this however, she was once attached to direct Thor: The Dark World in 2013. After eventually leaving due to 'creative differences' however, the film was made by Alan Taylor, and since it is widely regarded as one of the poorest entries in the entire MCU, it's difficult not to imagine what Jenkins' version of the movie would have looked like.
The Wonder Woman director reportedly wanted to make a movie that focused more on Jane and Thor's relationship with something of a Romeo and Juliet vibe, kept apart by Odin and the great distance between them, but left the project as she didn't believe she could make a great movie out of the script she was ultimately given.
In fairness, it's unlikely any director could have. Instead of a deep, star crossed lover story, fans were given the worst villain in the franchise's history, and a movie that relegated Natalie Portman's Jane Foster to little more than a damsel in distress.
