10 Ways MCU Movies Nearly Turned Out Completely Different

6. Odin Let Frigga Die - Thor: The Dark World

Throughout the Thor franchise, Odin played a huge role in the lives of Thor, Loki, and of course, Hela. All of his three children had very different relationships with their father, and though he often had funny ways of showing it, he loved them all.

Each one however, was on the wrong side of certain, questionable decisions. Thor was sent to Midgard with his hammer just out of reach, Loki was lied to for most of his life about his true heritage, and Hela was banished to Hel. The same could have been said about Frigga if a certain deleted scene had been kept in Thor: The Dark World.

In the final cut of the movie, after Malekith invaded Asgard in search of the Aether, and when Frigga stood up to him, allowing Jane to escape, the Dark Elf murdered Thor's mother. Odin arrived just too late to save his wife, but this scene could have been drastically different.

There was a version of the script where the Allfather arrived before Frigga was murdered, but instead of saving her, opted to do nothing in an attempt to protect the Aether. Had Odin just stood by and let his wife die, his moving death scene in Ragnarok would likely have been a lot less powerful, since most fans would have unconditionally turned on him by this point.
