10 Ways MCU Movies Nearly Turned Out Completely Different

5. Arnim Zola As Part Of SHIELD - Ant-Man

Flashbacks aren't uncommon throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ranging from a scene here and there, to an entire movie based around Carol Danvers in the 1990s. Ant-Man started with such a scene, showing Hank Pym, Howard Stark, Peggy Carter, and Mitchell Carson in a SHIELD meeting many years ago.

There was almost another player in this scene in the form of Toby Jones' Arnim Zola. The character appeared in The First Avenger in his human form before showing his new sentient computer stage in The Winter Soldier. His ultimately scrapped Ant-Man cameo would have shown something of a missing link between these two iterations.

As a robotic body with a computerised image of his face on his chest, this would have come as close to a realistic version of his comic accurate look as possible, and would have certainly made fans in the cinemas sit up and take notice straight away.

HYDRA has been around for the majority of the MCU's history, ever-present throughout the Captain America franchise, and playing a big part in Age of Ultron. This scene would have driven home just how deep the organisation ran throughout SHIELD, and even after the death of Johann Schmidt, managed to evade the likes of Peggy and Howard while existing right under their very noses.
