Particularly throughout Phase Three, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded its cosmic branch, and has brought some truly incredible inter-galactic characters to the screen. From Thanos to Dormammu and Ego, there have been some wonderful, bizarre characters introduced from beyond the stars.

Infinity War almost added to this list with what would have been one of the most powerful, unique, and down right strange additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Living Tribunal. The cosmic entity is as old as the universe itself, and can be brought into disputes that could potentially drastically shift the balance of power in the multiverse.

During the Avengers and Guardians' battle with Thanos on Titan, there was a point where the script featured the arrival of the Living Tribunal, brought forward to pass judgement on the Mad Titan and his quest for the Infinity Stones. In a scene pulled straight from the Infinity Gauntlet comic, the Living Tribunal would have had the power to stop Thanos in his tracks right then and there if he felt the need.

Though the cosmic monster had already been name dropped in Doctor Strange, his inclusion may have been one step too far for Infinity War, and having Thanos best his adversaries on his home planet before working his way to Wakanda was probably the best choice in the end.
