Ever since Marvel sent shock waves through Hollywood with The Avengers, their box office record-smashing hulk of a movie, every studio has been in a rush to set up their own cinematic universe.

Warner Bros. are the biggest contender to the crown, but their journey towards launching their own universe hasn't been without controversy or skepticism. Batman v Superman started its life with an electric Comic-Con introduction and followed it up with a series of unusual and unorthodox casting decisions that left many fans worried.
