10 Ways The Hunger Games Films Were Almost Completely Different
4. Phillip Seymour Hoffman's Death Changed The Final Film
The casting of veteran character actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman for the second movie in the role of Plutarch Heavensbee provided a boost for the franchise's credibility. He was flawless in the part in both Catching Fire and Mockingjay Part 1, and the latter was dedicated to him following his tragic death a few months before it was released. Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 were filmed together, and Hoffman had completed some of his scenes for Part 2 before his death. However, there was still substantial reshuffling to be done to compensate for losing him during production. Contrary to early reports, there were never plans to use digital effects to recreate him in the film. Instead, they rewrote his scenes and gave his dialogue to other actors.
